Apogem Capital Closes Largest Real Assets Fund Program At $472 Million

Apogem Capital closed its largest real assets fund program to date with $472 million in total commitments, exceeding the strategy’s original target.

The total includes $372 million in commitments to Apogem Real Assets Fund IV, including $12 million of employee commitments, along with an additional $100 million committed through a separate real assets co-investment account.

The fund exceeded its $300 million target, reflecting strong support from existing limited partners and new institutional investors.

ARAF IV will continue Apogem’s established private real assets strategy, using a thematic and value-oriented approach across co-investments, direct investments, and secondary transactions.

The strategy focuses on lower-middle-market and middle-market opportunities across energy, natural resources, infrastructure, and related services.

Apogem said the fund will primarily target opportunities in North America and other OECD markets.

The firm is looking to capitalize on long-term themes including energy security, grid reliability, rising power demand, infrastructure investment, and aging infrastructure.

Apogem established its dedicated Real Assets platform in 2014.

Since then, the firm has deployed approximately $1 billion across the strategy, building more than a decade of experience investing through multiple market and commodity cycles.

The fund attracted commitments from a diversified group of global institutional investors, including public and private pension plans, family offices, and registered investment advisers.

Apogem said the current market environment is creating opportunities to acquire high-quality real assets at attractive valuations, particularly following years of underinvestment across parts of the energy and infrastructure markets.

ARAF IV also benefits from Apogem’s broader private markets platform, which manages approximately $44 billion in assets as of June 30, 2026.

The firm has more than 250 professionals, including over 120 investment professionals, and draws on relationships built over more than 25 years across private equity and credit.

Apogem Capital is a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life through New York Life Investment Management Holdings.

KEY QUOTES:

“We are grateful for the continued support of our investors and are excited about the current environment for ARAF IV. We believe years of underinvestment in private real assets combined with the rising and shifting demand for natural resources have resulted in reduced competition for high-quality assets at attractive valuations. ARAF IV is designed to capitalize on this dislocation through a highly selective, value-oriented investment approach.”

Zac McCarroll, CFA, Managing Director and Head of Real Assets at Apogem Capital

“The successful close of ARAF IV reflects continued investor interest in private real assets and the important role we believe the asset class can play in diversified private markets portfolios. Long-term trends across energy, power and infrastructure are creating a broad and evolving opportunity set, and we believe Apogem’s scale, deep investment experience and sponsor relationships position us well to capitalize on those opportunities.”

Josh Niedner, Chief Executive Officer of Apogem Capital
