Apollo Global Management has selected Austin, Texas, for a new strategic growth hub focused on innovation, emerging technology, and development of new businesses across its asset management and retirement services platform.
The office will be led by Eric Needleman and Mike Downing. Apollo’s New York operation will remain its global headquarters.
Apollo plans to use the Austin hub to incubate emerging businesses spanning products, distribution, infrastructure, and market-making.
The firm will also use the location to rethink elements of its technology and operating model while maintaining close proximity to companies developing new technologies and business models.
Apollo highlighted Austin and the broader Texas market for its talent base, business environment, technology ecosystem, and growing concentration of financial services, energy, infrastructure, semiconductor, hard-tech, and defense companies.
Texas is already one of Apollo’s five largest capital bases, and the firm sees an opportunity to deepen relationships with companies seeking long-term financing for technology, industrial, and infrastructure expansion.
The location also gives Apollo access to a talent pool distinct from its established operations in other financial centers.
Apollo had approximately $1.03 trillion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026.
