Apollo Silver has appointed Steven Thomas as Chief Financial Officer, effective September 1, 2026, adding an executive with more than 30 years of international corporate finance experience to its leadership team.
Thomas succeeds Chris Cairns, who is stepping down to pursue another opportunity. Cairns will remain with Apollo Silver through September to assist with the transition.
Thomas brings more than 30 years of corporate finance experience, including approximately 15 years serving as CFO of large, intermediate and junior mining companies.
He most recently served as CFO of Mountain Province Diamonds and previously held CFO roles at Torex Gold Resources, Goldcorp’s Canadian operations and De Beers Canada.
Thomas has also served as an Apollo Silver director and Audit Committee Chair since 2021. In connection with his CFO appointment, he resigned from the board, including his roles as Lead Independent Director and Audit Committee Chair.
Jocelyn Thompson has been appointed Lead Independent Director, while Jackie Przybylowski has been named Chair of the Audit Committee.
The leadership transition comes as Apollo Silver advances two major mineral assets.
Its Calico Silver Project is described by the company as the second-largest undeveloped primary silver project in the U.S. and contains silver along with barite and zinc credits.
Apollo also holds an option on the Cinco de Mayo Project in Chihuahua, Mexico, which hosts a large, high-grade carbonate replacement deposit.
