Apotex Completes Strategic Transaction With Cumberland Pharmaceuticals

Apotex announced the closing of its previously announced strategic transaction with Cumberland Pharmaceuticals.

Through the transaction, Apotex is integrating Cumberland’s U.S. branded businesses into its operations.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the announcement.

Apotex said the transaction adds a portfolio of established branded medicines to its U.S. business.

The deal expands Apotex’s specialty and hospital-focused presence across key therapeutic areas.

These areas include acute care, oncology, infectious disease, and gastroenterology.

The acquired portfolio includes Kristalose, Caldolor, Sancuso, Vibativ, Acetadote, Vaprisol, and Talicia.

These brands are prescribed across hospital, oncology, infectious disease, and gastroenterology settings.

Apotex is a Canadian-based global health company with a portfolio that includes generic, biosimilar, innovative branded pharmaceuticals, and consumer health products.

The company is headquartered in Toronto and has regional offices globally, including in the U.S., Mexico, and India.

Cumberland’s Phase 2 clinical programs are evaluating ifetroban in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, systemic sclerosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and cancer metastasis.
