Appian, a provider of AI-powered process automation software, has appointed David Link to its board of directors, effective January 25, 2026, adding an enterprise software executive with deep experience in IT operations, automation, and platform scaling.

Link is the co-founder and chief executive officer of ScienceLogic, which provides AI-driven IT operations capabilities designed to help organizations manage increasingly complex technology environments. The company focuses on service-centric observability—bringing visibility across infrastructure, applications, and services—and pairing that insight with intelligent automation to reduce manual effort and improve operational performance. Appian positioned Link’s background as closely aligned with the company’s strategy as enterprises expand investments in AI, cloud platforms, and analytics while seeking more efficient ways to run core operational processes.

Over his career, Link has focused on solving operational challenges facing IT organizations by building targeted IT management and automation tools and by steering product and business model shifts through major technology transitions, including cloud computing and advanced analytics. Appian highlighted Link’s track record of integrating technology, product strategy and customer priorities, describing his leadership as instrumental to ScienceLogic’s continued growth and its ability to deliver enterprise-grade platforms that operate across distributed environments.

Prior to launching ScienceLogic in 2003, Link held senior executive roles across enterprise technology organizations. He served as Senior Vice President at Interliant, Inc., and previously worked at IBM, where he led the development of internet commerce software products—experience that Appian framed as relevant to supporting large-scale deployments and mission-critical workflows in complex customer environments. In addition to his executive leadership background, Link holds more than a dozen technology patents in IT management, underscoring a long-standing focus on engineering-driven innovation.

Link is also active in the regional technology ecosystem, serving on the Board of Directors for the Northern Virginia Technology Council. He was named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner for the Mid-Atlantic region. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Denison University.

Appian said it helps large enterprises and government agencies automate complex processes, with a platform known for reliability and scale. The company, which noted it has been automating processes for 25 years, positions its technology as a foundation for modernizing enterprise operations by combining process automation with AI capabilities to improve execution, reduce cycle times, and strengthen governance across critical workflows.
