Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company has sourced 20 million masks for medical workers in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Cook posted a video on Twitter about it:

Plus Apple also launched a company-wide effort that brought together product designers, engineers, packaging teams, and suppliers for producing and shipping face shields.

“Our first shipment was delivered to Kaiser hospital facilities in the Santa Clara Valley this past week, and the feedback from doctors was very positive,” said Cook via The Verge. “These pack flat, one hundred per box. Each shield is assembled in less than two minutes and is fully adjustable. We’re sourcing materials and manufacturing in the US and China.”

By the end of this week, Apple is planning to ship over 1 million shields along with another one million every week after.
