Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) is in the midst of discussions with Hyundai about potential car projects. It is believed that Hyundai could be involved with manufacturing Apple’s rumored electric vehicle along with the batteries. This was first reported by Korea Economic Daily and later confirmed by CNBC.

“We understand that Apple is in discussion with a variety of global automakers, including Hyundai Motor. As the discussion is at its early stage, nothing has been decided,” said Hyundai in a statement to Chery Kang of CNBC.

Last month, it was reported that Apple had made changes to its self-driving vehicle project, which is code-named “Project Titan.” Going forward, artificial intelligence executive John Giannandrea is going to oversee the work on the autonomous vehicle project. Recently, Doug Field’s team was moved over to the group under Giannandrea.

Apple is still reportedly several years away from manufacturing vehicles. It is expected that manufacturing will actually begin in 2025 or later.
