Apple Announces New iPad Pro, Mac Mini, And MacBook Air

Today in Brooklyn, Apple announced several iPad and Mac devices. Apple removed the Home button from the new iPad Pros and added the Face ID facial recognition system. The new MacBook Air has a 13.3-inch edge-to-edge Retina display with Touch ID support. And the Mac mini has been updated after a four-year break with some high-end internal components.

New iPad Pros

The new iPad Pros have the same edge-to-edge LCD display that Apple integrated into the iPhone XR. The sizes of the new iPad Pro displays are 11- and 12.9-inch. Plus the new iPad Pros are thinner and lighter. 

Inside of the new iPad Pros are A12X bionic chips and there is a notch for the front-facing camera. You can get up to 1 terabyte of storage on the new iPad Pros.

One of the major changes Apple made is that the Lightning port was switched to USB-C. With the USB-C port, you can connect desktop displays and digital cameras. Plus the headphone jack was removed so you will need to use wireless headphones or an adapter for sound if you do not want to use the built-in speakers.

The 11-inch iPad model starts at $799. And the price starts at $999 for the 12.9-inch model. You can pre-order it now and it will start shipping on November 7th.

New MacBook Air

Apple has introduced a new 13.3-inch MacBook Air with an edge-to-edge Retina display. And it has Touch ID so users can unlock it with their fingerprints. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor is placed on the keyboard and it supports Apple Pay.

The new MacBook Air has a new version of the keyboard and trackpad. And the microphone and speakers were improved as well.

Plus the MacBook Air has 16GB of RAM, which is double the amount of its predecessor. And it ships with a 1.5 terabyte SSD storage.

In terms of design, the new Apple MacBook Air is lighter and the volume was reduced by 17%. It’s also worth mentioning that the new MacBook Air was made entirely with recycled aluminum.

New Mac mini

The new Mac mini has 64GB of RAM and is five times faster than the previous version. The new Mac mini is also made entirely of recycled aluminum as well.

New Apple Pencil

The Apple Pencil was also updated to a new version. The new Apple Pencil attaches to the new iPad Pros magnetically and it can charge wirelessly. Plus it supports touch gestures to switch between drawing tools for the iPad.
