Apple is reportedly planning to buy virtual reality streaming service NextVR for a price of about $100 million according to 9to5Mac. If the deal closes, then it comes on the heels of Apple recently buying DarkSky and Voysis.
NextVR is known for partnering with sports brands like the NFL. And it enables gamers to watch sports events using headsets offered by Microsoft and Sony. Prior to the acquisition, NextVR reportedly raised over $115 million in funding.
There are reports that Apple will be launching its own virtual reality headset sometime in the near future. And this deal would reaffirm that possibility.
