- Apple could be announcing a new line of Macs next month. These are the details.
Apple could be announcing a new line of MacBooks next month, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. Gurman revealed the details in his “Power On” newsletter.
Gurman based this on code that was published in Apple’s second iOS 15.5 beta release. Some of the code refers to the next line of unannounced Macs.
The iOS 15.5 update will add compatibility for the new line of Macs to all supported iPhones – which includes the iPhone 6S and newer. And iOS 15.5 is expected to be launched within the next week or two.
There is speculation that the new line of Macs could be announced on June 6. That is the date of the first day of Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). On that date, Apple will also likely unveil iOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS 13.
According to Gurman, the new Macs will likely include a new M2-based MacBook Air, a new entry-level M2-based MacBook Pro, and an M2-based Mac mini. Later this year, the M2 Pro, M2 Max, and M2 Ultra Chips will likely debut in a 14-inch MacBook Pro, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, and a Mac Pro.
