  • Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) is reportedly giving engineers in China more responsibility in the hardware manufacturing processes. These are the details.

Apple is reportedly giving engineers based in China more responsibility in the company’s hardware manufacturing processes, according to The Wall Street Journal. Prior to the pandemic, Apple often sent U.S.-based engineers to China to oversee development. But now Apple is leaning more on engineers based in China due to increased border restrictions due to the pandemic.

But Apple’s U.S.-based engineers are still involved with overseas development efforts remotely. Apple also adopted some technology such as live-streaming to help the staff based at the headquarters and to remotely follow what is happening on the factory floors. Plus Apple has been using iPads to communicate along with augmented reality tools to help employees check for factory issues.

The company’s key decisions and product design will still happen primarily at the company’s headquarters.
