Today Apple released iOS 12.4, which is the fourth major update to iOS 12. The iOS 12.4 update can be downloaded and installed free through the Settings app > General > Software Update.
What are the new iOS 12.4 features?
“iOS 12.4 introduces iPhone migration to directly transfer data from an old iPhone to a new iPhone, includes enhancements to Apple News+ and improves the security of your iPhone or iPad,” says the description.
With the iPhone migration feature, you can wirelessly transfer data and migrate directly from an old iPhone to a new iPhone during setup.
And the update adds the ability to make downloaded issues accessible in the My Magazines section both online and offline in the Apple News app. Plus the update adds all publications in Apple News+ including newspapers to the catalog at the top of the News+ feed. Additionally, the update adds the ability to clear downloaded magazine issues by selecting History > Clear > Clear All.
Some of the other improvements include a security fix for the Walkie-Talkie app on Apple Watch and it re-enables Walkie-Talkie functionality and support for HomePod in Japan and Taiwan.
Initially, iOS 12.4 was expected to have support for the Apple Card credit card service. However, the release notes does not mention the Apple Card at all. Apple will likely add support for the Apple Card in an update coming in the near future.
