- The Apple Maps app now has the ability to find COVID-19 testing locations
The Apple Maps app now has the ability to find COVID-19 testing locations. Apple started implementing this feature earlier this month.
How does it work? Now when you open up the search feature in Maps, COVID-19 will be the first option in the list. And when you tap on it, you will see the testing sites near you. The COVID-19 testing sites on Apple Maps appear in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
When you tap on one of the testing site locations, it provides a link to the hospital or the website of the testing site with details about how the testing is done such as whether you would need doctor referral or an appointment to get a test done.
Earlier this month, Apple launched an online portal — which enables healthcare providers, labs, and hospitals to register COVID-19 locations. The Apple Maps team reviews each application before allowing approved locations to be displayed.
Plus Apple also updated the Maps app for prioritizing searches for food delivery, pharmacies, groceries, etc.
You can also find testing sites by searching for terms like “COVID-19 test” or “coronavirus test” in the search box.
