Applied Atomics: $8.3 Million Raised For Nuclear Power Plant Deployment Platform

By Amit Chowdhry ● Mar 30, 2026

Applied Atomics has raised more than $8.3 million in an oversubscribed seed financing round to accelerate the deployment of its full-stack nuclear power plant model. The funding brings the company’s total capital raised to approximately $12 million within its first year of operations.

The Los Angeles-based company is focused on designing, building, and operating nuclear power plants for continuous industrial use, targeting large infrastructure campuses. Its approach integrates reactor systems, plant design, supply chain coordination, and long-term operations into a single delivery model aimed at reducing cost uncertainty and execution risk.

The company plans to use the new funding to transition from development into deployment, including bringing test and integration systems online, strengthening its supply chain, and expanding engineering and operational capabilities. Applied Atomics is also working with early customers to secure sites and long-term power agreements, with ambitions to support up to 10 GW of planned capacity.

Its plants, ranging from 100MW to 1GW, are designed around established light-water reactor technology and are intended to deliver predictable, long-duration, carbon-free energy under long-term power purchase agreements. The company aims to own and operate these facilities, ensuring reliability and pricing stability over multi-decade lifecycles.

Applied Atomics has already achieved early system validation milestones using its SimBox digital twin platform and is advancing toward site-scale engineering integration and regulatory engagement. The company also recently established an integrated design and test facility in Los Angeles and plans to begin construction on a training and operations site later this year.

Looking ahead, Applied Atomics intends to finalize its first host sites and customer agreements, expand its engineering and deployment teams, and advance licensing efforts as it moves toward initial commercial construction.

KEY QUOTES:

“Reliable power infrastructure must be designed, financed, built, and operated as a single integrated system. This financing allows us to move from development into deployment, strengthening the disciplined engineering, supply chain coordination, and delivery capability required to put first steel in the ground and bring nuclear power into long-term industrial service.”

Benjamin Kellie, Chief Executive Officer of Applied Atomics

“Affordable nuclear power has never been constrained by physics. It has been constrained by execution. In an environment where traditional project models continue to struggle, we believe Applied Atomics’ full-stack approach offers a clearer path to deployable nuclear capacity.”

Ari Helgason, Investor at Transition

“We all know we need lots of firm power. It’s about who gets there fastest. Applied Atomics is approaching this as an integrated delivery problem. Taking a page from SpaceX, AA has built day-zero alignment across design, supply chain, and operations, and that is what gives this model a real path to deployment where it is so sorely needed.”

Aubrie Pagano, Investor at Alpaca VC

“The Applied Atomics team uniquely brings to bear real world experience in developing and delivering large scale technically advanced infrastructure projects from aerospace to nuclear fleet operations. Customers planning multi-decade infrastructure investments are increasingly focused on securing firm clean capacity with predictable deployment pathways like Applied Atomics, rather than waiting on unproven technology cycles.”
