Approov Limited, an innovator in mobile app and API security, has closed a £5 million (US$6.7 million) Series A funding round. The investment was led by Maven Capital Partners, with participation from Souter Investments, Lanza techVentures, and Scottish Enterprise.
The new capital will be used to expand Approov’s research and development team in Edinburgh. The company plans to create advanced technologies that secure mobile apps and APIs against new and evolving threats, including those powered by AI.
Approov’s patented solutions protect apps from tampering and fraudulent API access, a crucial defense as the cyber threat landscape rapidly changes. This funding is particularly timely, as new regulations, such as the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), are transforming the mobile app ecosystem. Approov’s technology enables developers to securely distribute apps directly to consumers, helping them reclaim up to 30% of revenue that would typically be lost to platform fees.
Approov’s real-time app attestation and runtime API protection prevent exploits from threats like rooted devices, emulators, and credential stuffing bots. Global customers trust the company’s technology in a variety of sectors, including healthcare, fintech, and e-commerce.
KEY QUOTES:
