Ara Infrastructure Acquires Majority Interest In Pacific Ag

Ara Partners’ infrastructure strategy acquired a majority stake in Pacific Ag, North America’s largest crop residue supply and logistics company.

The investment expands Ara Infrastructure’s waste-to-value strategy and is intended to support Pacific Ag’s continued growth across the agricultural supply chain.

Pacific Ag works with farmers to remove excess crop residue such as corn stover and wheat straw that remains after grain harvests.

Rather than leaving growers to manage that residue through additional tilling, removal, or nutrient management, Pacific Ag harvests and collects the material and converts it into feedstocks for a variety of end markets.

Those markets include dairies, animal protein producers, mushroom growers, and, increasingly, other decarbonization-related applications.

Pacific Ag operates a national harvesting and logistics infrastructure network that allows the company to collect residue directly from farms, store it, and deliver it to downstream customers.

The company said its model can provide farmers with an additional source of income while reducing the need for growers to purchase specialized equipment or add labor to handle crop residue.

Pacific Ag’s network includes specialized personnel, harvesting equipment, logistics capabilities, and long-standing relationships with farmers and customers.

The company was founded in 1998 and has expanded from its base in the Columbia River Basin in the Pacific Northwest to serve farmers and customers across more than 30 states.

Pacific Ag also operates alongside affiliate Reinert Hay Company.

Ara said Pacific Ag’s scale, access to essential end markets, and established agricultural infrastructure make it a strong fit for its strategy of investing in businesses that turn waste products into productive resources.

Ara Partners was founded in 2017 and invests across private equity, infrastructure, and energy strategies focused on the energy and industrial transition.

As of June 30, 2026, the firm managed approximately $10.6 billion in assets.

KEY QUOTES:

“Pacific Ag started nearly three decades ago with a simple idea: crop harvests leave behind byproducts too valuable to waste. Pacific Ag takes what used to be a cost in the field and turns it into income for the farmer. We handle the harvesting, storage, and delivery, removing the farmer’s need to buy additional equipment or add labor, and put real money back in their pocket. It is a strong, sustainable business because we work for our growers and communities first, and with Ara’s partnership we can bring that opportunity to many more farms across the country.”

Bill Levy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Ag

“Pacific Ag has built what most infrastructure companies spend years trying to create: a national network of scale, differentiated access to essential end-markets, and resilient underlying project economics. Our investment is a clear expression of our waste-to-value focus, turning residue into a productive resource. At a time when affordability is a real concern for farmers and families, and when the country wants more of its feed, fuel and materials produced at home, we are investing in a business that puts income in growers’ hands and strengthens our domestic agricultural supply chain.”
