Arcfield: $24 Million Award For Space-Based Environmental Monitoring Sensors

By Amit Chowdhry ● Mar 7, 2026

Arcfield announced that its subsidiary Orion Space Solutions has secured initial contracts valued at more than $24 million to develop and deliver advanced space-based sensing payloads for an undisclosed customer.

The work will involve the design, manufacturing, testing, and calibration of more than 25 mission-specific payloads over a multi-year period.

The contract awards are expected to support next-generation space-based environmental monitoring capabilities. Arcfield said the program has the potential to be worth more than $100 million as additional payload batches are delivered.

The payloads are designed to provide new levels of environmental monitoring from orbit, drawing on Orion Space Solutions’ decades of experience in advanced sensing technologies. According to the company, these systems are intended to support both commercial and defense-oriented satellite missions by delivering improved space-based intelligence and monitoring capabilities.

Arcfield noted that Orion’s sensor development heritage played a key role in the contract win. The company said the payloads will help advance satellite-based monitoring systems capable of collecting environmental data from space with greater precision and performance.
