Ardian announced that the appointment of Mark Benedetti as Co-CEO, alongside a series of senior executive appointments, became effective following the firm’s recent Annual General Meeting.

A 20-year veteran of the firm, Benedetti has played a key role in Ardian’s growth and leadership. He has chaired the General Management Team’s Executive Committee since September 2023 and has been responsible for helping guide the firm’s strategic direction and operations.

During the AGM, Benedetti addressed shareholders and reflected on Ardian’s evolution as it marks its 30th anniversary. He emphasized the importance of resilience, disciplined investing, and operational excellence in an increasingly complex market environment.

Benedetti also highlighted the appointments of Mathias Burghardt, Vladimir Colas, and Jan Philipp Schmitz as Executive Presidents. Together with the General Management Team, they will continue to oversee responsibilities across geographies, investment activities, and operations in support of Ardian’s international growth strategy.

According to Benedetti, today’s market environment is characterized by resilience under pressure, with financial markets appearing stable on the surface but exhibiting uneven strength underneath. He noted that this dynamic reinforces the importance of active management, investment discipline, and a focus on fundamentals.

Benedetti said that as markets become more difficult to interpret, investors must place greater emphasis on both value creation and value protection. He described the emergence of a “new shape of value,” one that prioritizes humility, resilience, operational execution, and earnings-driven growth rather than rigid investment convictions.

He added that Ardian’s three decades of investing experience position the firm to further strengthen its approach through greater diversification, deeper sector expertise, and disciplined execution.

KEY QUOTES:

“As Ardian marks its 30th year, it is natural that we would reflect on where we find ourselves now – both as an industry and as a firm – in the changing world around us.”

“The defining feature of markets today is resilience under strain. While financial markets are holding up at a surface level, their resilience is uneven. This reinforces the importance of discipline, active management and the underlying fundamentals.”

“When markets are harder to read, we must double down on the approach behind good investments: value creation and value protection.”

“In this context, we are seeing a new shape of value emerging. It is an approach where success and excellence grow more from being humble and not absolutist about investment convictions. It is about finding value enhancement and protection through an approach that is more resilient, earnings-led and operationally grounded.”

“Our 30-year heritage of prudent and practical investing at Ardian gives us confidence that we can further evolve our approach around greater diversification, greater sector expertise and a deeper focus on disciplined execution. That is how we intend to capture the upside of the new shape of value.”
