Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Winter & Co Solicitors through its Gallagher Bassett claims and risk management subsidiary, expanding its marine specialty platform with additional legal capabilities.
London-based Winter & Co is a specialist maritime law firm serving protection and indemnity clubs, marine insurers, shipowners and charterers.
The firm’s legal work focuses on shipping-related matters, giving Gallagher Bassett additional expertise alongside its existing marine claims and risk management capabilities.
Winter & Co founder Glenn Winter and his team will remain at their current London location following the transaction.
The business will operate under the direction of Manan Sagar, who leads Gallagher Bassett’s operations across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
For Gallagher Bassett, the acquisition adds specialist legal capabilities that can complement the services it already provides to customers across the global marine insurance and risk ecosystem.
Arthur J. Gallagher is headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and provides insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services in approximately 130 countries through owned operations and a network of brokers and consultants.
