Ascensia Diabetes Care Partners With Sava And Leads Series B Financing

Ascensia Diabetes Care entered a strategic partnership with Sava Technologies to commercialize and distribute Sava’s wearable microsensor technology and led the company’s Series B financing.  The partnership initially focuses on Europe.

Ascensia has been appointed exclusive distribution partner for Sava’s microsensor technology, which is currently under development.

The wearable platform is being designed to continuously monitor biomarkers just beneath the skin, beginning with glucose.

Sava is developing the device as a minimally invasive alternative to conventional continuous glucose monitors.

The company plans to conduct a pivotal clinical study for its glucose monitoring technology in 2026.

Sava is targeting CE approval and commercial launch within 18 to 24 months.

The companies intend for the device to support non-adjunctive use, potentially allowing insulin dosing decisions without routine confirmation through conventional blood glucose testing.

Subject to regulatory approval, Ascensia plans to distribute the technology in Europe through retail channels and established reimbursement structures.

Ascensia also made a strategic equity investment in Sava as part of the Series B round.

The amount of the financing was not disclosed.

The companies see longer-term opportunities for the microsensor platform beyond glucose monitoring and across other biomarkers.
