Aspirity Partners has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Onomondo as part of a combined investment exceeding €100 million in the Copenhagen-based IoT infrastructure and connectivity company. EIFO, Denmark’s sovereign investment fund and an Onomondo investor since 2021, is also increasing its investment alongside Aspirity.
The investment will support Onomondo’s international expansion, infrastructure deployment, and continued development of its proprietary IoT connectivity technology.
Onomondo has developed an end-to-end technology stack spanning connected devices, radio access networks, and cloud infrastructure. Its network provides customers with native access to nearly 700 mobile networks worldwide, allowing enterprises to manage connectivity across large international deployments.
The company’s technologies include SoftSIM, patented Cloud Connectors, and hybrid public-private network infrastructure designed for applications where devices need continuous connectivity across markets and network types.
One of Onomondo’s largest deployments supports what the company describes as the world’s largest private LTE network at sea across more than 450 Maersk vessels. The system lets connected assets transition between private onboard networks and public networks worldwide.
More than 500 customers, including Maersk, Carlsberg, and Husqvarna, use Onomondo to connect devices and collect operational data across environments such as ships, trucks, manufacturing facilities, and remote industrial locations.
Onomondo serves customers across more than 100 countries, with Aspirity’s investment expected to help the company further expand its international presence as demand grows for connected devices, edge computing, and physical AI infrastructure.
The company believes AI workloads increasingly moving onto physical devices will require an infrastructure layer that can reliably create, transport, and manage real-world data across global networks.
