Assent has acquired IPOINT, bringing together two specialist software providers to give manufacturers and distributors a more complete, AI‑powered view of their products — from the materials they contain to their environmental impact across the full lifecycle. The deal is Assent’s first acquisition and marks a strategic step beyond supply chain compliance into end‑to‑end product lifecycle intelligence, positioning the combined company to support emerging requirements such as Digital Product Passports and EU sustainability regulations.

IPOINT, headquartered in Reutlingen, Germany, is a long‑standing product compliance and sustainability platform with deep expertise in the automotive sector, lifecycle assessment (LCA), product stewardship, material declarations, and product carbon footprint. Assent, based in Ottawa, Canada, is a global leader in supply chain sustainability and product compliance, known for its large supply chain data network and focus on regulations including responsible sourcing, PFAS reporting, and trade compliance. Together, the companies aim to move manufacturers from fragmented, system‑by‑system views of compliance to a unified, data‑rich platform.

By combining Assent’s supply chain and product compliance capabilities with IPOINT’s material intelligence and LCA tools, the new platform will give customers faster, more confident answers to questions about what is in their products, how those materials are sourced, and the products’ environmental footprint from design through end-of-life. The integrated data network is also intended to strengthen the way Assent applies AI, allowing customers to query product and supplier information more efficiently than they could by building internal systems themselves.

For customers, both brands will continue to operate without service disruption as integration progresses. Over time, Assent customers will gain access to IPOINT’s strengths in material compliance, lifecycle assessment, and product carbon footprint, while IPOINT customers will gain Assent’s global supply chain compliance tools, supplier network, and regulatory expertise. The combined offering is especially relevant for EU and automotive clients, given IPOINT’s long‑standing partnerships with major OEMs and its depth in IMDS and automotive‑specific requirements, as well as Assent’s growing European presence.

KEY QUOTES:

That’s a meaningful step forward, and it builds the product data foundation our customers will need for Digital Product Passports and everything that comes next.”
