Asset Vantage: Interview With Global CEO Nicole Eberhardt About Family Office Technology, Data, And AI

Asset Vantage provides financial technology for family offices, combining investment performance reporting and general ledger capabilities within a single platform. Its technology supports investment accounting, partnership accounting, multi-entity and multicurrency reporting, tax-lot workflows, data aggregation, reconciliation, document management, and portfolio analysis. The company also offers managed financial operations through AV Prime and more intuitive financial querying and portfolio analysis through AV Edge. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Asset Vantage Global CEO Nicole Eberhardt to learn more about the company’s approach to family office technology, data quality, AI, and global expansion.

Nicole Eberhardt’s Background

When asked about her background, Eberhardt shared:

I trained to be an accountant, and I’ve spent most of my career working with family offices and the technology vendors that serve them, which placed me at the intersection of accounting, technology, and family-office operations.

So, when I evaluate technology, the questions I ask are informed by that experience.

I ask what problem it solves. Does it make the work easier? Can clients trust the information it produces?

I also place a priority on the quality and accessibility of data, because capabilities don’t matter if the underlying data is unreliable or the system creates more work for the people using it.

To that end, Asset Vantage’s platform unites general ledger and performance reporting for family offices.

It’s the only solution on the market that was actually created by a family office, which gives us unique insight into the daily workings of this industry.

Primary Responsibilities

When asked about her primary responsibilities as Global CEO, Eberhardt explained:

I’m responsible for Asset Vantage’s global strategy and growth.

A big part of my role is making sure we continually fine-tune our solutions to address the challenges our clients face.

There is a lot of pressure in technology to chase whatever is new, and, right now of course, that’s AI.

Certainly, the industry needs to keep up with the latest technologies, but we also need to be thoughtful about how new capabilities affect data quality, security and the people doing the work.

Favorite Memory

When asked about her favorite memory working for Asset Vantage, Eberhardt recalled:

My favorite memory so far has been traveling to India and experiencing the culture firsthand.

Beyond seeing the country, it gave me the opportunity to spend meaningful time with our colleagues, better understand their perspectives, and appreciate the culture that shapes how they work and collaborate.

That experience deepened my understanding of what it truly means to be part of a global company and how important it is to build relationships across regions to operate as one connected team.

Core Products And Features

When asked about Asset Vantage’s core products and features, Eberhardt explained:

Asset Vantage brings investment performance reporting and a general ledger together in a single platform, which is critical to family offices, because family wealth rarely sits neatly in one place.

Most own a variety of assets through many different entities.

The platform gives families and their advisors a consolidated view of those holdings, supporting investment accounting, performance reporting, partnership accounting, multi-entity and multicurrency reporting, tax-lot workflows, data aggregation, reconciliation, and document management.

It’s comprehensive.

We also offer AV Prime, a managed bookkeeping, reporting and reconciliation service built on the AV Pro platform.

AV Edge gives clients a more intuitive way to query their financial information and conduct portfolio analysis.

Balancing AI Innovation With Privacy And Trust

When asked about challenges in the sector and how Asset Vantage has addressed them, Eberhardt said:

One of the biggest challenges in our sector has been keeping pace with the rapid evolution of AI while respecting the exceptional importance family offices place on privacy, security, and control of their data.

We have approached this by being thoughtful and purposeful, focusing on practical AI applications that deliver meaningful value while maintaining strong governance and protecting client confidentiality.

In this industry, innovation cannot come at the expense of trust.

The goal is not simply to win the race to AI, but to deliver it in a way that is secure, responsible, and aligned with how family offices operate.

How The Technology Has Evolved

When asked how Asset Vantage’s technology has evolved since launch, Eberhardt explained:

We began by addressing a problem we’d experienced firsthand working in family offices.

Accounting systems could record transactions, and investment systems could report on portfolios, but neither gave families a complete view of their wealth.

So, we built a platform that combined those two functions.

Since then, it has expanded to include data aggregation, partnership accounting, document management, workflows, managed financial operations, and more advanced analytics.

Currently, we’re focused on helping clients work even more efficiently and effectively once they have good data in place, giving them faster access to information, portfolio modeling, what-if scenarios, and connections to tools for functions such as estate planning and tax preparation.

Key Company Milestones

When asked about some of Asset Vantage’s most significant milestones, Eberhardt highlighted:

Asset Vantage now supports more than 400 families representing approximately $400 billion in assets, which demonstrates not only the company’s growth, but also the kind of complexity the platform can manage.

We’ve also expanded into multiple global markets, as our platform has evolved from accounting and reporting into a broader financial operating system for family offices and their advisors.

Customer Success Stories

When asked to share specific customer success stories, Eberhardt explained:

Family offices place a high value on privacy, so we don’t, as a policy, identify individual clients.

But typically, family offices come to us after years of relying on QuickBooks and spreadsheets.

They’ve usually been manually combining information from banks, custodians, private investments, and numerous entities.

It would take them days or weeks to fulfill a reporting request from a principal or family member.

Once the data is structured in Asset Vantage, the office can see assets and liabilities across entities, produce consolidated reports and answer questions without rebuilding the analysis each time.

For a more established family office, that same foundation can support liquidity planning, tax-lot analysis and more complicated partnership reporting.

Competitive Differentiation

When asked what differentiates Asset Vantage from its competition, Eberhardt explained:

There is no such thing as a platform that does everything, and “best of breed” is only useful if a family office can afford and manage the entire stack.

We take a middle path.

Asset Vantage provides a comprehensive accounting, data and reporting foundation, but clients can connect to specialist applications where those applications add value.

We’re also being deliberate about the use of AI.

New does not mean mature, and putting a chatbot in front of a weak application doesn’t solve weaknesses that may lie underneath it.

Future Goals

When asked about Asset Vantage’s future goals, Eberhardt said:

We want Asset Vantage to become the foundational financial operating system for family offices and their advisors.

We plan to continue our global expansion, strengthen our partner ecosystem and help clients get more value from their data.

We’ll continue developing AI capabilities where they reduce work, improve access to information or support better analysis, but we’re not interested in adding AI simply for the sake of doing so.

Family Office Technology And Vendor Risk

Eberhardt concluded by talking about the importance of evaluating technology vendors beyond their latest features:

Family offices need to think more carefully about vendor risk.

A technology company may appear safer because it has private-equity backing or a large corporate owner, but that alone is not enough to assess the risk.

Who controls the company’s priorities? How long has it been in the market? Where are its teams located? What happens to client service when ownership changes?

Choosing family-office technology is a long-term operating decision, and the newest feature is not always the most important factor.

Clients also need to know whether they can trust the company and its technology with some of their family’s most sensitive information for years to come.
