Could you tell me more about your background? Dutton said:
“My path to data protection wasn’t a traditional one. Early in my career, I worked in juvenile detention and behavioral treatment centers, helping at-risk youth. It was challenging but deeply rewarding work that taught me patience, empathy, and how to navigate high-stake situations. These are lessons that still influence how I lead teams today.”
“When I relocated to the Washington, D.C. area, I transitioned into sales, starting with performance-based management conferences for government employees. That experience taught me how to communicate values and build lasting relationships. A year later, I joined a fast-growing backup and disaster recovery company called DS3 Data Vaulting, where my journey in data protection truly began.”
“I started as a Sales Development Representative under the mentorship of Stacy Hayes, spending my days cold-calling prospects. After hours, I asked for the chance to make my own sales calls. Being a hockey player, I decided to reach out to every NHL and AHL team I could find. The Washington Capitals picked up, and that call became my first major win. From there, Stacy brought me into full-time sales where I began developing both channel partnerships and customer relationships.”
“Following DS3’s acquisition by Terremark and later Verizon, I transitioned into client services, gaining a deeper understanding of long-term customer support and retention. I later worked with DuPont Fabros Technology, helping develop their Channel and Client Services strategies, before reconnecting with Stacy, who had recently co-founded a new venture – Assured Data Protection.”
“I’ve helped build and scale our channel organization, sales and client services teams, and today I lead all revenue operations across the Americas.”
Responsibilities
What are your primary responsibilities? Dutton shared:
“As Chief Revenue Officer for the Americas at Assured, my role is to drive new business and ensure continued growth year over year, while expanding across the region . I oversee revenue operations across Canada, the U.S., and South America, leading six interconnected teams aligned around a shared goal: to deliver value, transparency, and measurable growth.”
“My focus is on building strategies and tactical plans that empower these teams to succeed, while breaking down silos to create accountability and collaboration across regions. Our channel organization drives business development through trusted partnerships, while our sales and sales engineering teams work closely together to understand customer challenges and pain points through deep discovery, tailoring solutions that address their specific needs.”
“Our marketing and sales operations teams provide critical support, from elevating our brand and partner engagement to leveraging data that informs smart, targeted decision-making. Additionally, our Assured Sales Academy develops the next generation of sellers, giving young professionals the training and mentorship to grow. This is something that’s especially important to me since that’s where my own journey began.”

What has been your favorite memory of working for the company so far? Dutton reflected:
“It’s hard to choose just one standout moment, as there have been so many rewarding experiences, but what I value most is getting out to work with our teams across the region. Traveling to different countries, and spending time with the people who make this company what it is, and witnessing their passion firsthand is always the highlight for me.”

“Our core offerings include Managed Backup, which provides immutable, policy-driven protection; Replication to a secondary site for added redundancy; and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), enabling rapid failover and helping customers significantly reduce their recovery time and recovery point objectives.”
“Cyber resiliency has become a major focus for us as the threat landscape continues to evolve. To stay ahead of emerging risks, we’ve launched a Global Innovation Team, which is dedicated to developing services leveraging new technologies that strengthen our customers’ defenses. Among the initiatives we are advancing are Assured Disaster Recovery as a Service powered by Nutanix, enhancements to our Rubrik as a Service offerings, and new clean room options such as Clean Room IRE and Clean Room Scan. These are all designed to help organizations recover safely and securely from cyberattacks.”
“We also leverage our proprietary platform, ProtectView, to deliver automation, management, and comprehensive reporting for customers. In the coming months, we’ll be expanding our cyber resilience solutions, delivered as-a-service, beyond our Rubrik and Nutanix based offerings, ensuring we remain agile and adaptable as the industry and threat landscape continue to evolve.”
Challenges Faced
Have you faced any challenges in your sector of work recently? Dutton acknowledged:
“One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced over the past year has been our rapid growth, which is a byproduct of our success. We took the decision to double the size of the team under my leadership in the Americas, which meant a major focus on recruiting the right people across Sales, Channel, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales Operations. We have also built a Sales Academy for young hungry grinders looking for an opportunity to join our tremendous sales organization.”
“When you grow that quickly, hiring becomes much more than just filling seats. We needed people we could trust, and we spent time finding individuals who not only understand what we do but who also align with our culture and values. So, we leaned heavily on trusted references and prior relationships to make sure we were bringing in the right talent.”
“At the same time, with so many new team members coming on board, we had to build clear policies, processes, and accountability structures to keep everyone aligned. A big part of that has been breaking down silos between departments and ensuring smooth handoffs between teams, especially when transitioning customer opportunities. By tightening our communication and reinforcing ownership at every stage, we have been able to maintain the high level of customer experience that defines Assured, even as we scale rapidly.”

What are some of the company’s most significant milestones? Dutton cited:
“Over the past year, Assured has achieved several key milestones that reflect both the growth of our business and the evolving needs of our customers around the world. We’ve expanded our international presence significantly, launching fully managed Rubrik-based services in France through a strategic partnership with cybersecurity provider I-TRACING, and establishing operations in the Middle East via a distribution agreement with Mindware. These moves have allowed us to bring our expertise in cyber resilience, backup, and disaster recovery to new markets, supported by in-region data centers and multilingual 24/7 service capabilities.”
“Internally, we’ve taken major steps to align our organization with the pace of our global growth. In July of this year, we restructured our leadership team, creating new roles and expanding responsibilities to sharpen our strategic focus. At the same time, we launched a dedicated Innovation Team aimed at expanding our technology portfolio beyond Rubrik. Their first initiative, Nutanix Disaster Recovery as a Service, is already available in over 70 countries, offering a lightweight, hardware-free approach to business continuity. These efforts are all powered by our proprietary ProtectView platform, which continues to be a key differentiator in how we deliver and manage services.”

“One story that captures Assured’s commitment to its customers comes from a logistics and supply chain company in Philadelphia. After a ransomware attack brought production to a standstill, the company faced an estimated $5 million in potential losses. Their local recovery efforts were delayed, and every hour of downtime meant real business impact.”
“Recognizing that traditional delivery methods wouldn’t meet the urgency of the moment, an Assured engineer took matters into his own hands. He seeded the recovery drives himself, loaded them into his car, and drove straight to the customer’s facility. His quick thinking and hands-on approach meant that systems were fully restored, and production resumed before the start of business Monday morning.”

Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future goals? Dutton emphasized
“Looking ahead, our priorities are pretty straightforward. We will continue to scale globally, and we are launching our U.S. Public Sector division. Assured can provide government agencies and contractors a faster, safer path to resilient data protection; combining Rubrik’s leading cyber recovery platform with Assured’s 24×7 U.S.-only operations to help them meet CJIS, CMMC, and HIPAA requirements while improving real-world recovery outcomes.”
“We are also doubling down on our proprietary platform. AssuredView will evolve with more customized applications to include RecoverView 2.0. This is going to be a major step forward in meeting our customers’ DR testing needs as well as enhancing existing runbook and recovery orchestration options. “
“On the GenAI front, 2026 presents a huge opportunity for us. AI will help us predict better backup windows, identify ransomware patterns earlier, and even provide health scoring across customer environments. It also opens the door for self-service recovery assistants and faster quoting and presales work, which directly supports our growth plans.”
“Internally, GenAI will streamline a lot of the work our teams do every day, from documentation and infrastructure as code to competitive research and faster support resolution.”

What is one thing someone would not know about you? Dutton concluded:
“That is a tough one, but I think most people would not guess that I am a metal fan. My dream scenario? Having Maynard James Keenan open our next Sales Kickoff, with Tool, and then celebrating afterward with a glass of wine from one of his vineyards. It would be the perfect combination of two of my favorite things: incredible music and exceptional wine.”
