Astara Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm, announced an expansion of its operating partner team as it continues to strengthen the leadership and operational capabilities supporting its portfolio companies.
The firm has created a Head of Talent–type role through the hiring of Diana Barr as Human Capital Operating Partner. In this position, Barr will focus on recruiting, developing, and strengthening executive leadership teams across Astara’s portfolio companies. The firm views talent development as a central component of its value creation strategy and believes dedicated oversight of executive recruitment and development will enhance long-term performance.
Barr brings extensive experience in executive search and talent development across both corporate and private equity environments. During her career, she has led talent acquisition and development initiatives at major industrial companies including Grainger and Boeing, as well as within private equity-backed organizations.
In addition to Barr’s appointment, Astara has expanded its operations team with the addition of Gian Paolo Pernicone and Shane Januik as Operations Associates. In these roles, they will work closely with portfolio company leadership teams on a wide range of operational improvement initiatives, helping execute the firm’s value creation plans and drive performance improvements.
Astara said the Operations Associate program has become an important component of its operating model. The program is designed to embed operational resources directly into portfolio companies, giving management teams additional support and accelerating the execution of strategic initiatives.
Astara Capital Partners operates as an integrated team of investors and operators focused on middle-market investments. The firm provides capital along with strategic and operational support to help portfolio companies build sustainable value and position themselves for long-term success. Astara primarily invests in sectors where it has deep operational experience, including packaging and converting, food, building products, forest products, and industrial manufacturing, distribution, and services.
