Astronics: Test Systems Book-To-Bill Hits 2.78x As $44.7 Million Army Order Begins Multi-Year Production Ramp

Astronics’ Test Systems business entered a significant production ramp after receiving a $44.7 million U.S. Army order that pushed the segment’s quarterly book-to-bill ratio to 2.78x.

Test Systems bookings reached $63.1 million in Q2, including the $44.7 million order initiating full-rate production for the U.S. Army’s TS-4549/T Radio Test Sets Program. Deliveries under the initial production award are expected to extend over approximately 18 months. Segment backlog reached $123.3 million at quarter-end.

The initial order could be the start of a much longer production cycle. Astronics said it expects the first production award to be followed by similar annual orders in each of the next four years. Management noted that the program made only a marginal contribution to Q2 results, leaving most of the financial impact ahead.

Across Astronics, quarterly bookings reached a record $306.2 million, total backlog reached a third consecutive quarterly record of $780.6 million, and the company raised its 2026 revenue guidance to $1.02 billion to $1.04 billion.

KEY QUOTES:

“The big news in the second quarter for our Test business was the first production order for the U.S. Army’s TS-4549/T Radio Test program. Its contribution to our second quarter results was marginal, but the program’s impact will be significant as it ramps up in the coming quarters.”
