Atlassian Corporation, a prominent provider of team collaboration and productivity software, has announced a significant strategic move to acquire DX. This deal is designed to enhance the capabilities of both companies, enabling enterprises to gain deeper insights into how their investments in artificial intelligence (AI) are benefiting engineering teams and improving their operational efficiency.

In the current landscape, where organizations are rapidly deploying AI technologies, leaders of large engineering teams often struggle to understand the extent of productivity gains and the overall return on their AI investments. This is where DX comes into play; the company offers sophisticated tools that help organizations measure, benchmark, and enhance developer productivity through data-informed decision-making. By incorporating DX into Atlassian’s System of Work, which includes well-known tools such as Rovo Dev, Jira, Bitbucket, Bitbucket Pipelines, and Compass, customers will benefit from enhanced insights and tools necessary to improve team effectiveness and connectivity.

Through this collaboration, Atlassian and DX aim to deliver a comprehensive view of developer productivity and satisfaction by focusing on several key areas:

  1. Measuring AI Adoption: Leaders will be equipped to assess what initiatives are driving significant progress within their teams versus those that create additional distractions. This will aid in making more informed decisions about future investments in AI.

  2. 360° Visibility Into Developer Experiences: Clients will have access to a holistic view that combines qualitative feedback from developers with quantitative data points. This integration is crucial for identifying workflow disruptions and understanding how to enhance the overall developer experience.

  3. Real-Time Insights into Developer Productivity and System Health: With real-time analytics, leaders will be able to identify bottlenecks within their processes and pinpoint areas that require further investment or attention. This proactive approach to productivity aims to foster a smoother workflow and propel project timelines.

DX has already established a robust pre-sales and post-sales engineering framework with numerous enterprises, ensuring that they maximize the value of their offerings. Since a vast majority of DX’s clients are already users of Atlassian’s suite of products, this partnership represents a significant opportunity for DX to broaden its reach within Atlassian’s extensive customer base, which consists of over 300,000 users worldwide.

Under the terms of the definitive agreement, Atlassian will acquire DX for approximately $1 billion. This acquisition will be executed through a combination of cash and restricted stock, which includes DX’s existing cash balance and will be subject to customary adjustments. The transaction is anticipated to close in the second quarter of Atlassian’s fiscal year 2026, contingent upon meeting customary closing conditions and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals.
