AT&T Business and Amazon Leo have entered into a strategic agreement that will bring Amazon Leo low Earth orbit satellite broadband services to AT&T Business customers nationwide, adding satellite connectivity to AT&T’s existing fiber and 5G network architecture.
AT&T said it is the first major U.S. telecommunications provider to offer converged connectivity solutions incorporating Amazon Leo satellite services into its fiber and 5G networks.
Rather than offering satellite broadband only as a standalone product, AT&T plans to integrate the technology into a unified managed architecture that allows enterprise and public-sector customers to select different connectivity technologies through a single provider.
The approach is designed to let organizations combine fiber, 5G wireless and low Earth orbit satellite connectivity based on location, network requirements and operating conditions.
Customers will also be able to integrate satellite connectivity into their existing IT and network environments.
AT&T and Amazon Leo are progressing through a structured phased deployment intended to validate business-grade reliability before broader commercial availability.
The companies are targeting enterprises and public-sector organizations that require network redundancy, geographic reach or connectivity in areas where terrestrial infrastructure may be limited.
Amazon Leo’s satellite network is expected to add another connectivity layer for customers operating in remote, rural and previously underserved locations, while also providing redundancy when terrestrial networks are disrupted or unavailable.
The agreement builds on AT&T’s broader relationship with Amazon Web Services.
Together, AT&T’s agreements with AWS and Amazon Leo are intended to provide business customers with greater network resilience across terrestrial and satellite infrastructure, expanded geographic coverage and managed services backed by AT&T’s enterprise networking capabilities.
AT&T said specific details covering service availability, pricing and enterprise product configurations will be announced in the coming months.
KEY QUOTES:
“Customers have no shortage of connectivity options. What enterprise and public sector customers need is a connectivity platform that delivers greater reliability. AT&T is uniquely positioned to provide that reliability by bringing together three critical network layers—fiber, 5G, and low Earth orbit satellite—into a single managed architecture. While others offer individual connectivity products, AT&T Business delivers a seamless experience designed to keep customers connected, protected, and operational, regardless of location, network conditions, or business demands. That is a meaningful distinction in the industry, and one that AT&T can deliver at scale.”
Shawn Hakl, SVP and Head of Product at AT&T Business
“Amazon Leo delivers fast, reliable satellite broadband that builds resilience into networks and expands what’s possible for customers. This secure connectivity is built to meet the demanding operations of enterprise, public sector, and government customers.”
