Autodesk: Acquisition Of Rhumbix To Bring Real-Time Jobsite Data Into Project Costs

By Amit Chowdhry ● Apr 2, 2026

Autodesk announced that it has completed its acquisition of Rhumbix, a construction technology company focused on capturing real-time jobsite data, with the goal of improving cost visibility and decision-making across construction projects.

The company said that many construction teams lose control of costs not due to poor estimates, but because they lack timely visibility into field activity. Traditional financial systems are inherently backward-looking, meaning that by the time labor, equipment, and materials data appear in reports, the work has already been completed and opportunities to adjust have passed.

Autodesk highlighted that contractors often still rely on paper timesheets, spreadsheets, or disconnected tools to track labor and productivity. These approaches can introduce delays, inconsistencies, and blind spots that accumulate over the course of a project, forcing managers into reactive decision-making and leading to inaccurate forecasts and reduced margins.

The acquisition of Rhumbix is intended to address this gap by improving the connection between field execution and financial systems. By capturing accurate data in real time and integrating it into broader project workflows, Autodesk aims to provide a more reliable foundation for cost tracking, forecasting, payroll, and reporting.

Rhumbix’s platform enables field teams to capture data once and use it across multiple processes, reducing manual entry and improving consistency. The system supports labor tracking, production tracking, time-and-materials documentation, daily reporting, and analytics, and has seen adoption among general contractors and specialty trades operating in real-world jobsite conditions.

Autodesk said the integration of Rhumbix will strengthen its broader effort to connect workflows across the construction lifecycle, from planning and design through execution and operations. By linking real-time field data with downstream systems, the company aims to reduce fragmentation, improve decision speed, and enhance overall project outcomes.

The company emphasized that improving construction outcomes depends on better data that is captured at the source, connected across workflows, and delivered in time to inform decisions. With this acquisition, Autodesk is positioning itself to help project teams move from reactive management to proactive control based on real-time insights.

KEY QUOTES:

“Our partnership with Autodesk has always been focused on connecting what happens in the field with the decisions we make in the office. Bringing Rhumbix into Autodesk has the potential to close one of the biggest gaps we see today: reliable, real-time field data tied directly to project and financial outcomes. When jobsite activity is accurately captured and connected upstream, our teams can make faster decisions, reduce risk, and drive more predictable results across every project.”

Atul Khanzode, Chief Technology Officer at DPR Construction

“Rhumbix has been focused on helping construction teams capture reliable jobsite data as work happens. We believe that, in partnership with Autodesk, there is a powerful opportunity to further connect real-time field data with broader project workflows, and support more complete visibility across the project lifecycle.”
