Azra AI has completed its acquisition of Blackford Analysis, combining Blackford’s vendor-neutral medical imaging AI orchestration platform with Azra AI’s patient management technology. The companies are positioning the combination as an end-to-end platform that can carry an imaging finding from the first scan through coordinated follow-up and completed care.
Blackford provides access to more than 130 AI applications from over 45 partner vendors through a single enterprise platform. Once Blackford applies an imaging AI application and a report is generated, Azra AI can combine that result with electronic health record data including genomic testing, labs, patient history, appointments, and clinical documents to identify patients who need follow-up and route them to appropriate care teams.
Azra AI said the combined platform supports screening and incidental findings, oncology and other complex care navigation, multidisciplinary meetings, cancer registry automation, clinical trial matching, and treatment tracking. The goal is to reduce cases in which clinically significant imaging findings are documented but do not lead to timely follow-up.
Azra AI acquired Blackford Analysis from Sopris Capital, Azra AI’s parent company and majority owner, which acquired Blackford from Bayer on October 2, 2026. The transaction follows Azra AI’s acquisition of Thynk Health less than six months earlier, adding another imaging and patient-tracking capability to the platform.
Azra AI said it is deployed at more than 1,500 sites, including five of the top 10 U.S. health systems, and has grown 11 times in the 28 months since John Marshall became CEO in mid-2024. Marshall will lead the combined companies, while Blackford will continue serving existing OEM partners and health-system customers.
KEY QUOTES:
“Every health system wants to catch disease earlier. The harder part, and the one our industry hasn’t connected, is making sure what gets caught turns into immediate care. Today a patient can have a finding documented in a report and still fall through the cracks, and in cancer, that lost time can cost a life. Many imaging AI companies have chosen to focus on a single condition, such as pulmonary nodules, but patients don’t arrive with just one, and health systems need a platform that follows every finding to care. Adding Blackford to Azra gives health systems a single platform that connects imaging AI from across the industry with agentic care coordination. This is the change health systems and patients have been waiting for.”
John Marshall, CEO Of Azra AI
“Our mission has always been to make imaging AI simple to adopt and valuable at scale. Joining Azra AI carries that mission beyond the reading room. Our partners and customers keep the vendor-neutral platform they rely on today, and they gain a direct path from AI-detected findings to coordinated patient care.”
