B/CORE: Fuel Consulting Acquisition Expands Intelligence Community Mission Capabilities

By Amit Chowdhry ● Mar 5, 2026

B/CORE announced it has acquired Fuel Consulting, a move designed to strengthen its ability to convert emerging technologies into operational capabilities for the U.S. Intelligence Community and Department of War. The acquisition brings nearly two decades of mission expertise from Fuel Consulting into B/CORE’s technology-focused platform, helping bridge the gap between operational needs and deployed solutions.

Founded by Heidi Gerhards, Fuel Consulting has spent about 20 years building trusted relationships across key directorates within the Intelligence Community. The firm’s team averages 27 years of experience, with many members having worked alongside government customers for more than a decade. Fuel specializes in organizational transformation, governance frameworks, and the integration of advanced technologies into mission environments.

By combining Fuel’s deep mission advisory capabilities with B/CORE’s engineering depth and rapid delivery architecture, the combined organization aims to accelerate the deployment of technology solutions in intelligence and defense settings. B/CORE said the integration will enable mission advisors and technologists to collaborate more closely, helping agencies move more quickly from concept development to operational implementation.

Gerhards will join B/CORE as a senior leader and will work across the organization to strengthen customer relationships and accelerate mission delivery across the Intelligence Community.

B/CORE is a national security technology company focused on transforming emerging technologies into fielded mission capabilities. The firm’s expertise spans artificial intelligence and machine learning, data engineering, DevSecOps, secure hybrid cloud, and multi-intelligence analytics. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, B/CORE was formed through a series of acquisitions including Bridge Core, GeoYeti, teKnoluxion, 2Twelve Solutions, and Fuel Consulting. The company operates as a platform investment of NewSpring Holdings.

NewSpring Holdings, founded in 1999, manages more than $3.5 billion across multiple investment strategies, including growth equity, control buyouts, and mezzanine debt. Its federal investment strategy focuses on building and scaling companies that deliver mission-critical services and technologies to the U.S. government. Since 2023, the firm has launched several federal-focused platforms including B/CORE, C Speed, and Xpect Solutions.

KEY QUOTES

“At B/CORE, we believe culture is a force multiplier. What Heidi has built is rare. She created a company grounded in trust, humility, and mission-first execution. That’s why her team has been welcomed into some of the most important spaces in the IC. We are gaining mission-fluent operators who understand why the problem matters, not people who build in the abstract. The combination of deep mission context and rapid technology adaptation is what the IC needs right now.”
Chad Kim, CEO of B/CORE

“I’ve always led Fuel with a mission-first mentality. Our focus has been helping agencies put technology to work in ways that advance the mission and show real impact. B/CORE operates with the same urgency and the same commitment to mission intimacy. Together, we will deepen those relationships and move faster for our partners.”
