Babcock & Wilcox, an Akron, Ohio-based energy and environmental products and services company, has secured more than 21 million dollars in awards for fuel switching technologies across the United States, reflecting increased utilization of coal and natural gas power plants. The awards, which include engineering and material supply, come alongside continued strong performance in the company’s parts and services business driven by elevated baseload generation demand.
The fuel switching projects reinforce Babcock & Wilcox’s position in coal-to-gas conversion, a market the company has served through more than 150 boiler conversions to date, including projects switching from coal or oil to 100% natural gas firing systems as well as multi-fuel capability upgrades. The company completed a 100 megawatt utility boiler coal-to-gas conversion in the fourth quarter of 2025, delivered ahead of schedule and within budget, and is currently executing an additional 1,200 megawatts of coal-to-gas conversion projects scheduled for completion this year.
