Backswing Ventures has invested in Isengard Industries as part of the defense technology company’s latest financing round alongside A3 Management Group and other strategic investors.
The financing will support development and mass production of Isengard’s precision strike and counter-UAS systems along with the manufacturing infrastructure required to supply the U.S. and allied militaries.
Founded by Francisco Serra-Martins, Isengard is focused on designing military systems that can be manufactured quickly and economically at significant scale.
The company has already established agreements and partnerships with allied militaries across Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and the Middle East and has begun engaging with U.S. Army units.
Isengard plans to use the financing to execute its contract pipeline, expand operational capacity, and establish a U.S. operating base. Florida is currently being evaluated as a potential location.
The investment fits Backswing’s thesis that strengthening the defense industrial base requires not only new autonomous technologies and software but also sufficient manufacturing capacity to produce military systems at scale.
KEY QUOTES:
“Advanced systems only matter if they can be produced and delivered at the scale required, and Isengard is building the capabilities to help address that challenge.”
Kyle Asman, Founder and Managing Partner of Backswing Ventures
“War is won in the factory as much as at the front, and years in Ukraine proved it to us. Isengard builds weapons of mass production: scalable, attritable mass that lets the West outproduce and outfight our adversaries.”
Francisco Serra-Martins, Founder and CEO of Isengard Industries
