Bain Capital’s Private Credit Group invested approximately $6 billion during the first half of 2026, providing financing to middle-market and private equity-backed companies across refinancing, leveraged buyouts, add-on acquisitions and other growth initiatives.

The group completed 58 investments during the six-month period, including 34 new platforms, making the first half one of its most active investment periods in recent years.

The investments spanned senior secured debt, unsecured debt, preferred equity and common equity, reflecting Bain Capital Credit’s strategy of providing flexible financing solutions across different parts of a company’s capital structure.

Bain Capital also served as the majority lender on approximately 72% of new commitments during the period.

Portfolio companies associated with those commitments had a weighted average EBITDA of approximately $56 million.

The Private Credit Group deployed more than $200 million of junior capital across multiple new platforms as it continued expanding beyond traditional senior lending.

Bain Capital also closed more than $2.2 billion of new capital for investments during the first half of the year.

The firm said credit performance remained strong across a diversified portfolio comprising more than 273 middle-market businesses.

Bain Capital Credit’s Private Credit Group focuses primarily on businesses with EBITDA ranging from $10 million to $150 million across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

As of June 30, 2026, the group managed approximately $24 billion of capital.

Bain Capital has operated in middle-market private debt for more than 25 years. Since inception, its Private Credit Group has invested more than $39 billion across 644 portfolio companies.

The strategy has become an increasingly significant part of Bain Capital’s broader investment platform as private equity sponsors and companies look to private lenders for acquisition financing, refinancing and growth capital.

Bain Capital overall manages approximately $225 billion in assets across Private Equity, Growth & Venture, Capital Solutions, Credit and Real Assets. The firm has more than 2,000 employees across 24 offices on four continents.
