Baker McKenzie Adds Private Equity Partner Christoph Jerger In Munich

Baker McKenzie has added Dr. Christoph Jerger as a partner in its Transactional Practice Group in Munich, strengthening the firm’s private equity and M&A capabilities in Germany and across its global platform. Jerger joins from Kirkland & Ellis, where he had practiced since 2017.

He advises financial sponsors on complex domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, public takeovers, corporate restructurings and corporate capital markets matters.

His practice has particular depth representing private equity sponsors in acquisitions of privately held and publicly listed companies.

Jerger has also received recognition within the German legal market. The 2025/2026 edition of the JUVE Handbook German Commercial Law Firms named him a Rising Star for private equity, while JUVE also included him in its 2025 “40 Under 40” list of accomplished German lawyers under age 40.

Baker McKenzie said the appointment reflects growing demand for sophisticated private equity and M&A advice, particularly on complex and cross-border transactions.

Jerger’s arrival is also intended to strengthen the firm’s relationships with large-cap financial sponsors and expand its ability to advise both German and international private equity clients.

The appointment forms part of a broader investment in Baker McKenzie’s German transactional practice.

Recent additions have included corporate partners Jan Schubert, Dirk Horcher, Daniel Dehghanian, Johannes Baumann, Katharina Stüber and Jakub Lorys, alongside promotions including Tino Marz and Holger Engelkamp.

Globally, Baker McKenzie has continued expanding its Corporate practice through lateral partner hires across London, Budapest, Stockholm, Washington, D.C., Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Mexico City and New York.

The firm has more than 2,500 deal practitioners across more than 40 jurisdictions, with more than 65% of its transactions involving multiple jurisdictions.

Baker McKenzie’s Private Equity group advises clients across the investment lifecycle, from acquisitions and financing through portfolio company matters and exits.
