Baker McKenzie has hired Sarah West as a partner in its Dispute Resolution team in London, adding senior capability focused on technology regulation and contentious work.
West rejoins the firm after serving as Senior Counsel, Content Defence at Google. She previously worked at Baker McKenzie as a senior associate until 2022. Her practice spans technology litigation, investigations, compliance and ethics matters, with particular expertise in the UK’s Online Safety Act. She also advises on the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act and the EU’s Digital Services Act.
Steve Abraham, Baker McKenzie’s EMEA head of Dispute Resolution, said West’s experience in tech regulation litigation—especially around the Online Safety Act—aligns with the group’s growth plans as regulatory enforcement and disputes accelerate across the sector.
London Managing Partner Ed Poulton said Dispute Resolution remains a strategic priority for the office, adding that West’s reputation in technology regulation strengthens the firm’s ability to advise clients navigating complex compliance and enforcement challenges.
West said she is returning to Baker McKenzie to build on the firm’s work advising technology clients through the full “compliance and enforcement regulatory lifecycle,” and to bring her in-house perspective to regulatory litigation, class actions and enforcement proceedings.
West will join Baker McKenzie on February 2, 2026. The firm said the appointment follows a series of lateral partner hires in London across multiple practices, reflecting an ongoing push to expand its senior bench.
