Baker McKenzie has recently expanded its London team by bringing on Sam Trowbridge as a new partner in their highly regarded Tax practice. This strategic move is part of the firm’s ongoing effort to strengthen its senior talent pool in the city.

Sam Trowbridge arrives at Baker McKenzie from Kirkland & Ellis, where he developed a wealth of experience in the complex world of international finance. His primary focus has been on the tax implications of cross-border private equity and merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions. He has worked with a diverse range of clients, including various sponsors, and across a broad spectrum of investment strategies, such as buyouts, infrastructure projects, credit deals, and real estate ventures.

In addition to these areas, Sam is skilled in guiding debt financing and capital market transactions, understanding the tax considerations for management, and handling restructuring assignments. He also has expertise in tax litigation and advises fund managers on the tax and structural issues relevant to their funds.

Baker McKenzie is actively pursuing an aggressive strategy to enhance its London presence by attracting top-tier senior professionals. This initiative has recently been joined by several other experienced partners. These include Helen Johnson, an M&A Partner; Mark Thompson, a Private Equity Real Estate Partner; Nick Benson, an Investment Funds Partner; James Wyatt, an Energy & Infrastructure Partner; Kevin Heverin, a Restructuring & Insolvency Partner; Indradeep Bhattacharya, a Patent Litigation Partner; and Michal Berkner, a Corporate M&A Partner, also based in London.

With a vast network of over 2,700 deal practitioners spread across 45 different jurisdictions, Baker McKenzie is a formidable force in the transactional legal landscape. The firm is particularly adept at handling intricate, multi-country transactions, with more than 65% of its deals involving multiple jurisdictions. For the past decade, Baker McKenzie has consistently been recognized as one of the top three firms globally for the volume of cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) work it undertakes. Their teams combine sophisticated financial market understanding with local expertise, offering clients the best of both worlds.

Baker McKenzie’s Tax team is widely regarded as one of the most highly rated and recommended tax advisors worldwide. It consistently achieves top rankings in international tax directories across more jurisdictions than any other law firm, underscoring its unparalleled global reach and expertise.
