BakerHostetler has added Daniel Passage as of counsel in its Los Angeles office, where he joins the firm’s Business Practice Group and Debt Finance team.
Passage joins BakerHostetler from an Am Law 50 firm and brings more than three decades of experience representing issuers, underwriters, financial institutions, asset originators, investment banks, fund managers and institutional investors in securitizations, structured finance transactions, public offerings and private placements.
The addition expands BakerHostetler’s finance capabilities on the West Coast and follows the July arrival of partner Christopher Raidy in Los Angeles.
Passage has worked on hundreds of securitizations, structured financings and forward flow transactions involving both traditional and more specialized asset classes. Before joining BakerHostetler, he held senior practice leadership roles at major international law firms, including serving as head of a debt finance practice and, earlier in his career, as head of a securitization practice.
His practice includes structuring programs for the origination, financing and securitization of novel asset classes. He also advises issuers and underwriters on public offerings and private placements involving equity, debt and convertible securities.
That work has included offerings listed on European and Asian securities exchanges, transactions denominated in foreign currencies and offerings involving offshore entities.
Passage has structured programs supporting the financing and securitization of billions of dollars of property-assessed clean energy assets.
He has also facilitated several billion dollars of consumer and small-business loan securitizations through marketplace lending platforms.
His transaction experience spans a range of asset classes and industries, including insurance products, residential and commercial clean energy financing, copyright and patent royalty receivables, digital cinema receivables, consumer lending and small-business financing.
The hire is part of BakerHostetler’s continuing investment in its corporate and finance practices and its broader expansion in Los Angeles.
BakerHostetler’s Debt Finance team advises clients on domestic and cross-border financings across a range of industries, including sophisticated structured finance and securitization transactions.
Passage’s arrival adds another senior finance lawyer to the firm’s West Coast operation at a time when BakerHostetler is expanding the depth of its Los Angeles corporate practice.

Passage received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
