Balance Theory, an AI-native platform for cybersecurity investment decisions and execution, has raised $19 million in Series A financing led by SYN Ventures, with existing investors DataTribe and TEDCO also participating. Cybersecurity executive Dan Burns, founder of Accuvant and former CEO of Optiv, has joined Balance Theory as executive chairman.
Balance Theory helps CISOs understand their enterprise, navigate the market, and move investment decisions into execution through an AI-native platform. The company manages more than $1 billion in security investment spend, with customers realizing an average first-year return on investment exceeding 300%.
The platform brings the cybersecurity investment lifecycle together through three connected systems: a system of record, a system of intelligence, and a system of execution. The funding will support go-to-market execution, deeper enterprise integrations, expanded market intelligence, and continued development of agents and skills within the platform.
KEY QUOTES:
“Our team spent years working across the cybersecurity channel and alongside CISOs leading organizations of every size and complexity, and we kept seeing the same challenge: security leaders lacked a consistent way to understand their own enterprise, navigate an increasingly complex market and connect those insights to action.”
Greg Baker, Co-Founder and CEO, Balance Theory
“Having sat in the CISO chair, I know that the hardest part of leading a security program is not identifying more things to do. It is understanding which decisions matter most, how each investment affects the broader program and how to move from strategy to execution with confidence.”
Alex Tosheff, Venture Partner, SYN Ventures
