Bank of America has hired more than 300 people in Belfast, marking a major milestone toward its commitment to create up to 1,000 roles in Northern Ireland.
The bank celebrated the milestone at its new City Quays offices in Belfast, where Chair and CEO Brian Moynihan met employees and joined government and business leaders for discussions focused on further regional growth.
Bank of America first announced plans to establish operations in Belfast in September 2025, citing Northern Ireland’s talent base and its growing position as a center for financial and professional services.
Since recruitment began, the bank has hired employees from Northern Ireland and beyond to support multiple areas of its global business.
The Belfast operation is part of Bank of America’s broader investment in the United Kingdom and reflects the company’s confidence in the region as a location for future growth.
The bank said Belfast is becoming an increasingly important part of its global franchise as it continues working toward the 1,000-role target.
Participants in the opening and roundtable included Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill, Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly, Economy Minister Dr. Caoimhe Archibald, U.S. Ambassador to the UK Warren Stephens, U.K. Treasury Economic Secretary Lucy Rigby, and representatives from Invest Northern Ireland.
Bank of America’s expansion is also expected to contribute to Northern Ireland’s financial services ecosystem by creating skilled employment and strengthening the region’s ability to attract international investment.
The company operates in more than 35 countries and jurisdictions and serves more than 69 million clients in the United States.
Bank of America also operates approximately 3,500 retail financial centers and 15,000 ATMs and has about 60 million verified digital users.
