Barchemy has appointed Isaac Long as Chief Executive Officer, bringing in a food industry executive with experience in enterprise transformation, commercial strategy and manufacturing as the specialty ingredient company enters its next phase of growth.

Founder Larry Toscano will transition to Chairman and continue working closely with Long and the leadership team on Barchemy’s long-term strategy and objectives.

Barchemy develops and manufactures better-for-you chocolate and confectionery ingredients used across nutrition bars, bakery, confectionery and ice cream products.

Long joins the company from Rise Baking Company, where he most recently served as Chief Transformation Officer.

At Rise, he led a broad commercial transformation and enterprise-wide strategic planning initiatives.

Before Rise, Long served as President of Table Talk Pies, where Barchemy said he delivered significant EBITDA growth before the company’s acquisition by Rise Baking.

Earlier in his career, Long worked as a project leader at Boston Consulting Group.

Before entering consulting, he served for more than a decade in the U.S. Navy as a naval aviator and TOPGUN instructor.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

The leadership transition gives Toscano an opportunity to remain involved in Barchemy’s strategy while shifting day-to-day executive responsibility to Long.

Toscano founded the business in 2015 and has positioned Barchemy around speed, flexibility and collaborative product development for customers seeking differentiated better-for-you ingredients.

Long said his initial priorities will include preserving that operating model while identifying opportunities to scale Barchemy’s capabilities and market reach.

KEY QUOTES:
