Barclays has completed its acquisition of Best Egg, a U.S.-based direct-to-consumer personal loan origination platform, marking a key milestone in the bank’s U.S. growth strategy. The transaction was carried out through Barclays Bank Delaware, its U.S. consumer banking subsidiary.
The acquisition adds a scaled, capital-light personal lending platform to Barclays’ existing U.S. consumer business, complementing its partnership-driven credit card and deposit operations. The move is designed to enhance diversification, improve capital efficiency, and support long-term returns while strengthening Barclays’ ability to serve customers across the U.S. consumer finance market.
Best Egg will continue to operate under its existing brand and will be managed within Barclays US Consumer Bank. The integration is expected to expand Barclays’ personal lending capabilities and support the development of a more digitally focused and diversified consumer banking platform.
