Barings Names Brian Maute Head Of U.S. Wealth As $502 Billion Manager Expands Alternatives Distribution

Barings has named Brian Maute Head of U.S. Wealth, creating a new leadership position as the $502 billion alternative asset manager expands distribution across registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, private banks, family offices and other wealth platforms.

Maute will report to Ilena Coyle, Head of North America Insurance and Intermediary Distribution.

He will lead Barings’ U.S. wealth distribution strategy and work to expand access to the firm’s investment offerings across credit, real assets, capital solutions and emerging markets.

Maute will also collaborate with investment, product, distribution and marketing teams on products and educational resources designed to help wealth managers incorporate alternative investments into client portfolios.

He joins Barings with more than two decades of wealth distribution experience.

Maute spent more than 15 years at DWS Group, most recently as Head of U.S. Wealth and CEO of DWS Distributors.

He previously built and led DWS’ U.S. Wealth Alternative Investments Division and earlier held senior distribution roles at Invesco and Van Kampen Investments.

Barings is a subsidiary of MassMutual with a minority investment from MS&AD.
