Barings has provided senior secured credit facilities to support Investcorp’s acquisition of Berger Financial Group, a registered investment advisor managing more than $3 billion in assets.
Barings served as lead agent on the financing for the transaction. The size and terms of the credit facilities were not disclosed.
Berger Financial Group provides financial and retirement planning, portfolio management and tax planning services to more than 3,800 clients.
The RIA operates through nine offices and has built a platform combining investment management with broader financial planning and tax-related capabilities.
Investcorp’s acquisition gives the alternative investment manager exposure to the growing U.S. wealth management sector, where RIAs have attracted significant private equity investment as firms seek additional scale, technology capabilities and advisor recruiting capacity.
For Barings, the transaction expands an existing direct lending relationship with Investcorp.
Barings has now financed four of Investcorp’s most recent investments, establishing the alternative asset manager as one of Investcorp’s recurring financing partners.
The financing was provided through Barings’ North America Direct Lending Group.
Barings offers private credit and other financing solutions as part of a broader alternatives platform spanning credit, real assets, capital solutions and emerging markets.
The firm had approximately $502 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026.
Barings is a subsidiary of MassMutual, with MS&AD holding a minority investment in the business.
Investcorp operates across private equity, real assets, credit and liquid strategies.
Its private equity activities include mid-market buyouts, growth investments and GP stakes, while its credit platform spans CLOs, broadly syndicated loans, structured credit and middle-market direct lending.
The Berger transaction continues Investcorp’s deployment into businesses with established operating platforms and opportunities for longer-term growth.
For Berger, the backing provides a new institutional owner as the firm continues serving its more than 3,800 wealth management clients and expanding its position within the RIA market.
