Barrick Mining Names Helen Cai As CFO

By Amit Chowdhry ● Jan 24, 2026

Barrick Mining announced it has appointed board member Helen Cai as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, with Cai set to assume the CFO role on March 1, 2026. The company said the change will follow the departure of current CFO Graham Shuttleworth, who is expected to leave after Barrick announces and files its year end results.

Barrick said Cai will work alongside Shuttleworth until his departure as part of a planned handover intended to support continuity in the company’s finance leadership.

Cai has served on Barrick’s board since November 2021. The company said she brings more than two decades of experience spanning equity research, corporate finance, strategic planning, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions, with much of her career focused on the mining, industrial, and technology sectors, primarily with Goldman Sachs and China International Capital Corporation (CICC). Barrick said she was consistently ranked among the top research analysts by StarMine, Institutional Investor, and Asiamoney, and that the transactions she led as an investment banker received multiple deal awards from Asiamoney and The Asset.

Barrick said Cai holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations and studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University.

Barrick, which operates gold and copper assets across 17 countries, said it is the largest gold producer in the United States and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol B and on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol ABX.
