Base — a SaaS platform built for executive assistants — announced it raised $2.6 million in a seed round of funding led by Matchstick Ventures with participation from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, High Alpha Capital, and Slack Fund. With this round of funding, Base is going to hire in sales, services, and engineering.

How does Base work? Base is modernizing the way assistants and executives work together by providing tools and technology tailored to the executive work style.

“Through years of working with EAs, I’ve seen the pain points support professionals face in their daily work – inadequate technology, manual processes, communication inefficiencies, and more,” said Paige McPheely, Founder and CEO of Base. “This funding round will help us continue to build a platform that is tailored to the unique responsibilities of assistants, while simultaneously elevating EAs and their profession along the way.”

Using Base, support professionals can manage executive communications, oversee day-to-day operations, streamline reporting, and store personal information in a central and secure location. And by further shifting the EA focus to strategic projects, it is Base’s goal to give support professionals the ability to leverage their unique skills and vast knowledge in more meaningful ways.

“At Matchstick, we look for innovative ideas with massive market potential,” added Ryan Broshar, Founder and Partner at Matchstick Ventures. “This is an entire profession that has never been supported with modern technology, until today. We’re thrilled to be part of the movement that is creating an entirely new category of software.”

Base has a goal of modernizing the way EAs and executives work together. And by providing tools and technology tailored to the executive work style, Base helps executive assistants streamline operations and simplify communications so that they can better support the executives they serve.

“Base is empowering executive assistants to be more strategic, proactive, and productive,” explained Mary (Himinkool) Grove, Partner at Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund. “It is another great example of a company outside of Silicon Valley building technology that can have a meaningful impact on the way we work.”
