Basware To Acquire Trustpair, Extending Payment Fraud Protection Across 2.5 Billion Invoices And 20 Million Suppliers

Basware has signed a binding agreement to acquire Trustpair, extending its Invoice Lifecycle Management platform into payment fraud prevention as businesses face increasingly sophisticated AI-enabled financial scams.

The combination is designed to provide end-to-end assurance from invoice processing through payment. Basware verifies that an invoice is legitimate and approved, while Trustpair validates that the payment is being sent to the intended supplier account.

Trustpair was founded in 2017 and provides enterprise payment fraud prevention technology used by more than 600 organizations, including Fortune 500 companies.

Its platform validates supplier bank account information during onboarding, when payment details change, and before payments are authorized.

Trustpair works across finance technology environments including SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Zycus, Ivalua, Jaggaer and Kyriba.

After the acquisition closes, Trustpair will continue operating and going to market independently as a Basware company, retaining its existing team and platform.

The companies said customers will not need to change their existing ERP, procurement or treasury systems to use Trustpair’s technology.

The transaction also creates a larger pool of financial data that can support fraud detection.

Trustpair will gain access to shared intelligence spanning approximately 2.5 billion invoices and 20 million suppliers, which the companies expect to use to strengthen payment validation models.

The acquisition comes as generative AI makes supplier impersonation, forged documents and business email compromise attacks easier to execute at scale.

According to research cited by Basware, 75% of anti-fraud professionals have experienced an increase in generative AI-related document fraud and forgery over the past two years, while only 7% said their organizations were more than moderately prepared to detect or prevent AI-powered fraud.

Regulatory requirements are also increasing. In the U.S., Nacha tightened payment fraud requirements in 2026, requiring organizations sending ACH payments to implement processes designed to identify unauthorized transactions, including those resulting from business email compromise.

Trustpair will complement Basware’s existing invoice fraud and duplicate-detection technology while supporting the company’s broader concept of the “Perfect Invoice,” where invoices are validated throughout the full transaction lifecycle.

Basware serves more than 6,500 customers globally and has spent more than 40 years developing accounts payable and invoice management technology.

The Trustpair agreement continues Basware’s recent acquisition strategy following its purchases of Glantus, AP Matching and Redmap between 2023 and 2025.

Basware is backed by technology-focused investment firm Accel-KKR.

Trustpair’s existing investors and shareholders include Axeleo Capital, Breega and Tikehau Capital.

The transaction is expected to close later in 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

KEY QUOTES:

“Trustpair was built around a simple belief: approving the right invoice is not enough if the money ultimately reaches the wrong account. By bringing our capabilities together, we see the opportunity to give finance teams stronger protection across the full journey, from supplier onboarding and invoice approval through payment.”

“Trustpair will continue to operate with the same team, platform, and commitment to our customers and partners across the finance environments they already use. Basware’s reach and resources will help us accelerate beyond what we could have achieved alone.”

Baptiste Collot, Co-Founder And CEO Of Trustpair

“AI may be the most powerful productivity tool of our generation. Unfortunately, it is also becoming one of the most powerful tools ever placed in the hands of criminals. A finance team can do everything right on the invoice and still send the money to the wrong bank account.”

“Basware has spent more than 40 years protecting the invoice. Bringing Basware and Trustpair together extends that protection through the payment itself. Together, we will offer the first end-to-end invoice-to-payment assurance in the market, strengthening Financial Integrity and Continuous Compliance across the invoice lifecycle.”

Jason Kurtz, CEO Of Basware

“The combination of Basware and Trustpair brings together complementary capabilities that address a growing gap in finance: protecting the invoice lifecycle from supplier onboarding through payment. As AI makes fraud more sophisticated and traditional validation harder to rely on, uniting these datasets enables a more contextual, proactive layer of risk assurance.”
