- Bed Bath & Beyond announced an extensive restructuring of its leadership team, including the departure of 6 senior members
Today Bed Bath & Beyond announced an extensive restructuring of its leadership team, including the departure of six senior members. This pivot represents the priorities of the newly appointed president and CEO Mark Tritton, who succeeded interim CEO Mary Winston.
The new team will be in charge of streamlining decision-making, accelerating the pace of transformation, and re-establishing Bed Bath & Beyond’s authority through a more customer-focused omnichannel retail operation and a redefined product assortment along with a more convenient and inspirational shopping experience.
“We’ve helped millions of people make it easy to feel at home for almost half a century and our business remains uniquely placed to play an essential role in our customers’ lives. To do so, we need to make the business we call home, as special as our customers make theirs,” said Tritton “This is the first in a number of important steps we’re taking. Balancing our existing expertise with fresh perspectives from new, innovative leaders of change, will help us to better anticipate and support our customers in their life journeys and shopping needs.”
To redefine the structure and roles of the new leadership team, five senior members are leaving their positions, including the Chief Merchandising Officer Todd Johnson, Chief Marketing Officer Eric Steinberger, Chief Digital Officer Dan Murray, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel Allan Rauch, and Chief Administrative Officer Sue Lattmann. And the sixth member, Chief Brand Officer Debbie Propst resigned last week.
Interim leads have been appointed, but the company also commenced a search to fill the positions of Chief Merchandising Officer, Chief Digital Officer, General Counsel as well as a newly combined Chief Marketing and Brand Officer position.
Earlier this year, Bed Bath & Beyond founders Warren Eisenberg and Len Feinstein along with most of the board of directors had also stepped down from the company. And an interim management team ran the company until Tritton started working at the company in November. Tritton was previously the Executive Vice President & Chief Merchandising Officer at Target.
