Bentley Buys Talon Aerolytics And Pointivo Technology To Expand AI-Driven Asset Analytics

By Amit Chowdhry • Jan 6, 2026

Bentley Systems announced it has acquired Talon Aerolytics and the technology and technical expertise of Pointivo in a pair of deals that closed in December, strengthening the company’s push into asset analytics for infrastructure owner-operators.

The infrastructure engineering software company said the acquisitions meaningfully expand Bentley Asset Analytics, a portfolio that uses digital twins and AI to help customers monitor, analyze, and improve the performance and resilience of assets across sectors such as telecommunications, road networks, and electric utilities.

Bentley’s Asset Analytics offering currently includes products such as OpenTower iQ for telecommunication towers and Blyncsy for road networks. With the addition of Talon and Pointivo’s technologies, Bentley is aiming to broaden capabilities spanning both telecommunications and power grid infrastructure, as infrastructure operators face rising demand tied to global 5G deployments and grid modernization initiatives.

Talon provides software used for site surveys, inspections, and asset digitization across wireless telecom, broadband, and electric utilities. Bentley said Talon’s platform combines workflow automation, digital twins, and AI to help organizations improve productivity for recurring inspection tasks while also generating insights into asset conditions over time. Bentley positioned Talon as an enabler of integrated digital workflows that can scale across large networks of infrastructure assets, from towers and poles to broader utility footprints.

Pointivo’s contribution is centered on drone-derived analytics and related AI capabilities. Bentley said it acquired Pointivo’s technologies, intellectual property, and technical expertise, which it expects will add horizontal functionality across Bentley Asset Analytics. Those additions include drone data processing, AI-powered damage detection, and geolocation capabilities that can help turn visual captures into actionable intelligence for infrastructure operations and maintenance teams. Bentley also highlighted Pointivo’s work in advanced point-cloud processing and automated measurement as complementary to its existing portfolio.

Executives framed the acquisitions as both a product expansion and a strategic investment in a market they view as accelerating. Bentley said applying AI to infrastructure inspections supports “continuous inspections” that can improve operational performance and maintenance economics—an approach designed to help asset owners identify issues earlier, prioritize interventions, and reduce downtime across critical networks.

Bentley also pointed to the business profile of its asset analytics efforts. The company said the Asset Analytics segment is operating at an approximately $50 million revenue run rate, and it expects its ongoing platform consolidation investments to support long-term double-digit growth in annual recurring revenue, subscription revenue, and cash flow. Financial terms for the Talon and Pointivo transactions were not disclosed.
