Best Buy: CEO Succession Plan Names Jason Bonfig To Succeed Corie Barry

By Amit Chowdhry ● Apr 22, 2026

Best Buy announced a CEO succession plan that will see Corie Barry step down and longtime executive Jason Bonfig assume the role, marking a leadership transition aimed at driving the company’s next phase of growth.

Barry, who has served as CEO since 2019, will step down on October 31, 2026, after seven years leading the company through a period of significant transformation, including navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerating digital and omnichannel capabilities. She will remain involved during a transition period to support continuity.

Bonfig, currently Chief Customer, Product and Fulfillment Officer, will become CEO and join the Board of Directors. A veteran of the company, Bonfig has held leadership roles across e-commerce, supply chain, and customer experience, playing a key role in Best Buy’s digital expansion and operational strategy.

The succession reflects Best Buy’s emphasis on internal leadership development and continuity, with the board highlighting Bonfig’s experience and strategic vision as critical to advancing the company’s growth initiatives in an evolving retail landscape.

The leadership transition comes as the company continues to navigate shifting consumer demand, competitive pressures, and increasing integration of digital services and technology within retail operations.
